The Ministry of Women, Youth, Children and Family Affairs condemn in the strongest term the brutal death of the Chinese woman in Honiara on Tuesday this week.

The Ministry in a statement today conveyed deepest condolences to the family and described the nature of her death as barbaric and inhuman act of violence.

The mother of two was brutally attacked when she arrived to open her shop at the White Angel Building, Point Cruz area.

This inhuman act on this mother is not tolerated in any society and those responsible must face the full course of law.

This brutal act has left two innocent young children without their mother, a tragedy they will go through for the rest of their lives.

Those responsible did not only take away the life of the victim but also devastated the life of her children, husband and family.

The Ministry strongly calls for an end to all forms of violence against women and girls in Solomon Islands and reiterates that every individual including women and girls have the right to live in a safe and peaceful society.

In addition, family members, friends and employers of the victim or any person who are experiencing trauma as a result of this incident or any person experiencing any forms of violence can call the National SAFENET helpline 132 for counselling.
