MEMBER of Parliament for Gizo/Kolombangara Constituency Honourable Lanelle Olandrea Tanangada has been sworn in as the new Minister for Women, Youth, Children and Family Affairs.

Mrs Tanangada was sworn in at the Government House by the Governor General Sir Frank Kabui this afternoon.

The swearing in ceremony was witnessed by the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister other Cabinet Ministers, senior back benchers and senior government officials.

Minister Tanangada replaces former Member of Parliament for Temotu Vatud Freda Tuki, who lost her seat as a result of an election petition recently.

The new minister for women, youth and children affairs has acknowledged the challenging task ahead but vows to do her utmost best.

Mrs Tanangada, is a graduate from the University of Waikato in New Zealand, and a teacher by profession.

She was elected to Parliament after contesting the Gizo/Kolombangara constituency by-election in May this year.
